Vintage Buttons In Our Etsy Shop

Not long ago we decided to try some vintage buttons in our Etsy shop. They seem to partner nicely with vintage sewing patterns. Today we got the nicest shout out by Lauren over at Wearing History.

She bought these really cool vintage red filigree buttons from us that look like they were made for the sweater she put them on, don't you think?

She sells this pattern via .pdf download here

It's really fun to get to see the finished product of something made with items that we sell.

Thanks for stopping by :)

I Made A Blog Button!

Actually I we made two blog buttons! I we followed Bethany's instructions from In This {Crazy} Life that she shared at a link party. It was easy! Ok, Mr ShowMe had to help, but still.. I made the button image, I just needed some help with the image hosting part and finding the right link to the image. I already had a Flickr account, so instead of using Photobucket like Bethany did, I just put it there, and that gave me a little trouble... but we he figured it out. After making the easy one, I made a grabable one too!

I'm not sure about the collage. The button might be too small for that many images. I was trying to capture the variety of the things we make, but I may change the actual image in the future. Now that I know how to make the button, changing the image will be easy-peasy!

I'll have to add a Buttons page to my blog and put them there, but first I wanted to show them off.

Waxed Thread, Beads, and a Filipino Button

I was in the Philippines in April on business. I've been there before. There's a lot of down time at the hotel, and boredom is rampant. I wanted to take something to work on, but traveling 8,000 makes for very careful packing. Luggage space is at a premium, so waxed thread and beads seemed like a good choice.
I wanted to shop for fabric while I was there. In doing that I realized how cheap buttons were! Packs of 6 or 8 were less than $1, so I bought some of those too. Using one of my button finds I made this bracelet.

I think the tan color worked nicely with the light blue beads.

I gave the bracelet to my daughter when I got back home. She's always loved the color light blue, so I knew she would like it. I'm making myself one now with red (my favorite color) and silver beads. I'll post pictures once I finish it.
